Residents of Ekeng Ewa street laments abandoned access road by Niger Delta Ministry

Youths residing on Ekeng Ewa Street have threatened to block the road leading to the popular beach market in Marina over the abandonment of the road in the area.

The youth leader in the community who spoke on condition of anonymity with a LENS Reporter on Saturday said the contractor handling the project has absconded with the salaries of workers when it became obvious that he was incompetent to handle the project after constructing a shabby gutter which water does not flow and on top of this, he left heaps of chippings along the road which has made it impossible for residents with vehicles to drive in and out of their houses for years now and appealed to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Umana Okon Umana to come to their rescue.

Ekeng Ewa Street is located in the old Calabar settlement off Hawkins road in Calabar South local government area of Cross River State.

An effort by LENS Reporter to speak with the staff of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in their Murtala Mohammed Office in Calabar was rebuffed as they claim they are not competent to speak on the matter.
