Ribadu refutes 2031 presidential ambition, others alleged by El-Rufai

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has refuted an allegation made by a former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, that he is planning to tarnish his reputation because of his 2031 presidential ambition.

El-Rufai, had on Monday, accused Ribadu of collaborating with Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to destroy his image.

“Reacting to the allegation in a statement issued via his official X handle late Monday, Ribadu said he is not collaborating with anyone to disparage or malign El-Rufai in any way.

The NSA said he has never discussed running for president in 2031 with anybody, stressing that all his focus and energy are geared toward the success of the Bola Tinubu administration and the nation’s advancement.

Earlier, the former Kaduna governor while appearing on Arise TV on Monday claimed that Mr Ribadu is nursing a presidential ambition for 2031 and would eliminate any northerner he deemed a threat.

“Somebody wants to destroy my reputation. Why? Nuhu Ribadu wants to be president in 2031. He has to eliminate every northerner that he thinks is on the radar.”

There have been speculations that Mr El-Rufai planned to contest the presidency in 2031.

“This project of destroying Nasir El-Rufai is Nuhu Ribadu’s conception. He is the architect and builder of that project. He is working with Uba Sani to implement it. So far, it has been frustrating for them,” Mr El-Rufai alleged.
