Royal father calls for link roads to rural communities in Cross River State

The clan head of Kasuk 11, Qua clan in Calabar municipal council area of Cross River state, His Royal Highness Ntoe Ededem Okon Ayito 111 has called for the construction of link roads to rural communities in the state to take development to the door steps of rural dwellers as well as assist farmers to transport their produce to markets in urban areas to impact their livelihoods.

He made the comment in a chart with Lens reporter in his palace where he appealed to the state government to consider the option of creating development clusters in all the 18 local government areas in the state in order to check rural urban migration which has affected agricultural production in the state substantially.

Ntoe Ayito said that food shortage in Cross River with the resulting hike in prices of staple foods is not unconnected with the movement of able-bodied youths to towns and cities for greener pastures.

The monarch who is a management consultant and a farmer asked for the speedy completion of Odukpani- Mfamosing, Adiabo- Okurikang, Iwuru-Akwa Ibami, Ekpri, Ibami – Uwet – Budem roads to connect the agricultural hubs in the state to Calabar.

And continuing, he further urged the Cross River government to establish critical infrastructures like schools and health facilities to create enabling atmosphere for residents of these agrarian communities.

He expressed gratitude to the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade for his rural electricity drive as well as his industrial development strides though calling for synergy between government and traditional institutions to achieve greater results.
