Rural residents throng Governor Otu’s ancestral home Adiabo-Efut for foods; Otu, spouse bestowed traditional titles

Rural residents and cultural groups had access to Governor Bassey Otu’s ancestral home in Adiabo-Efut community in Odukpani Local Government Area, Cross River State where they received food items like tomatoes, bags of rice, beans, garri and salt from the first lady, Eyoanwan Otu.

The governor’s kinsmen, other local folks and groups also received clothing materials, cash gifts among other largess to mark the new year celebration.

The beneficiaries and attendees thereafter entertained, displaying the rich cultural heritage of the people while exchanging pleasantries with the first family.

The Creek Town Central Traditional Rulers Council used the opportunity to bestow on the governor and his wife the traditional titles of Uforo Iboku and Utuenikang Iboku Esit Edik respectively.

The council noted that constructions of rural roads in many parts of the state was about the most outstanding of Otu’s achievement in his 19 months in office.

The council said the ongoing construction of the Adiabo-Creek Town-Ikoento road is one such rural roads which has been very critical to coastal communities and evacuation of farm yields.

Governor Otu used the opportunity to preach unity and love amongst not only his kinsmen but amongst residents of the state.

Otu expressed commitment to his constituents and his vision for a prosperous Cross River State.

He urged Nigerians to love and pray for their leaders at all levels, highlighting the country’s potential to become a global leader given its abundant resources.

In his words, “genuine love, forgiveness, and unity are essential for individual and national success”.

Reassuring Cross River people of his commitment to the state’s prosperity, Otu expressed gratitude for their support and promised to fulfill his campaign promises.

The governor’s visit to his hometown has become an annual tradition.
