Senate sacks Ali Ndume as Chief Whip, replaces him with Borno Senator Mohammed Monguno

Nigeria Senate on Wednesday removed the Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume As Chief Whip over anti-Tinubu comments and replaced him with Borno Senator Mohammed Monguno.

This is coming after the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday demanded his resignation, citing the hurtful comments he made against the administration of President Bola Tinubu as the reason for the drastic action.

This directive was issued in a letter signed by APC national chair Abdullahi Ganduje and national secretary Ajibola Basiru which was sent to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and was read aloud on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.

Earlier, some Senators have allegedly called for the suspension of Senator Ndume as Northern Senators were said to be divided over his recent anti-Tinubu remarks.

Tension has arisen in the Senate as some northern senators have allegedly moved against the Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, over his recent comments on the current hardship being faced by Nigerians.

Recall Ndume had during an interview with journalists alleged that President Bola Tinubu had been caged and was not aware of the acute hunger being experienced in the country.

Also during a debate on high cost of food items caused by middle men in the distribution chain, on the floor of the Senate, last week, former Senate president, Ahmad Lawan, also alleged that the entire food reserve in the country was empty.
