Seven storey building collapses in Lagos, two bodies recovered
A seven-story building under construction on Oba Idowu Oniru Street, Lekki axis in Lagos State collapsed at 12 midnight today with about six persons reportedly trapped and two bodies recovered.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident in the early hours of Sunday saying the incident occurred at Oba Idowu Oniru street beside Avi Maria hospital.
Nosa Okunbor, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, provided the update on Sunday morning.
“Two male commodities have been recovered under the rubble and bagged,” he said.
Rescue effort jointly coordinated by NEMA, LASEMAl, and Nigerian Red Cross is ongoing with excavators seen combing through the rubble notwithstanding the downpour.
