Silicon estate residents in Cross River lament unfair treatment by government

There is palpable tension and anger from the residents of Silicon Estate located behind the Garment factory at Etap Eyip community in Calabar Municipal Council Area of Cross River State.

Speaking to newsmen on Sunday May 21st 2023, a community leader Mr. Bong William lament the environmental and health hazard they are facing due to government attempt to block the channel and road that facilitate discharge of water from the erosion prone terrain arising from the heavy rain which flood the area and has made motorists and pedestrians to access the estate through alternative routes.

William said since the appropriate authorities have refused to listen to their plea to provide support to landlords in the area in their effort to construct a drainage to facilitate easy discharge of rain water, they may resort to self-help by venting their frustration through refusal to pay any development or sanitation levy demanded by government agents.
