State Assembly lawmaker nominated running mate of APC governorship flagbearer in Cross River

Bearing reservations by the critical stakeholders of the party in Cross River against plans by Governor Ben Ayade to foist House Leader in the Cross River State House of Assembly on Prince Bassey Otu as his running mate in the 2023 governorship elections, Hon. Peter Odey has been officially unveiled as the deputy governorship candidate of the party in an event held in Ogoja Local Government Area by the state chairman, Barrister Alphonsus Eba with the gubernatorial candidate, Senator Bassey Edet Otu in attendance.

Eba appreciated Prince Otu and other parties faithful for their understanding in supporting the nomination of Hon. Peter Odey. According to him, the choice of who becomes the deputy governorship candidate of the party is entirely the responsibility and right of the governorship candidate and no one can take that away from him. He thanked Prince Otu, for his show of much love for the Ogoja people at the occasion.

In his speech, the gubernatorial candidate of the party Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu appreciated the party for their understanding and sued for support and cooperation as according to him with the nomination of Hon. Peter Odey, a son of Ogoja the cries of marginalization against Ogoja should be over with a promise to work tirelessly to ensure that Cross River State takes the pride of place it deserves.

Hon. Peter Odey in his acceptance speech vowed to give 100% loyalty to his principal during the elections and while in office as deputy governor to make Ogoja great again.

It could be reasoned that Hon. Odey’s nomination is a ploy to dare Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe during the 2023 elections to share his votes in his base for the APC Northern Senatorial candidate.
