TETFUND to improve ranking, rating of Nigerian Universities

Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro, has said that the agency is working hard on improving the ranking and rating of Nigerian Universities.

Bogoro stated this during the inauguration of the Senate Building and the newly-established Faculty of Health Sciences at the Plateau State University, Bokkos

Tertiary education in Nigeria is blighted with inadequate funding infrastructural deficit and intermittent industrial action.

These challenges have affected the quality of education and the ranking of Nigerian universities over time.

At the inauguration of the Senate Building and the newly-established Faculty of Health Sciences at the Plateau State University, Bokkos, the Executive Secretary of TERTFUND explained why Nigerian Universities often rank low compared to their peers in Africa and in the rest of the world.

Vice-Chancellor of the Plateau State university said the Partnership with the Fund has improved teaching and research in the institution.

Visitors to the University and Governor of Plateau state announced the approval of 100 million nairas to address the internal grievances of the Academic Staff Union of the University.

The Newly constructed Senate Building has 56 offices, eight units of departments, and a 200 Seat senate Hall while the Faculty of Health Science has four state-of-the-art laboratories.
