The Apostolic Church Nigeria eulogizes late seminary rector
As the remains of the former Rector of The Apostolic Bible College and Seminary will be laid to rest at Ikot Enyie in Nung Ukana, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, faithful of the church has continued to pour encomiums on the sterling qualities of the scholar par excellence for his contribution to the advancement of theological education.
Late Pastor (Prof.) Chaplain Obong Ita Edet, JP who was born in 1948 and passed on to eternal glory in 2021 at age 73 could be described as a quintessential cleric and gentleman whose footprints in the sands of time would endure for a long time.
Speaking to LENS Reporter in separate interviews, Pastor Effanga Okon Etim, Assistant Field Secretary of the Apostolic church Nigeria, Calabar Field, and Area Superintendent of Sabongari disclosed that unknown to many, Pastor Obong Ita lived a contented life despite various challenges he faced in the course of transforming The Apostolic church Bible College and Seminary which he took to the pinnacle.
In his contribution, Pastor Eteng Etobe, Ph.D., a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Calabar and District Pastor of the Apostolic Church Nigeria, Ikot Nkebre who doubles as The Calabar Field Education Board Secretary, lamented the sudden demise of the late Rector’s wife, Deaconess (Mrs.) Bassey Obong Edet after the death of her beloved husband thereby compounding the family and church grief. He prayed to God to grant their beloved children the grace to bear the irreparable loss of their parents.
One of the students who passed through the tutelage of Pastor Obong Ita and the General Overseer of New World Apostolic Miracle church, Apostle Elijah Effiong Eyo, aka Odudu I promised to impact the church with the knowledge he got from the late Rector and Bible teacher par excellence to immortalize his name to generations as an expert in homiletics.
Late Pastor (Prof.) Obong Ita Edet, JP and wife, late Deaconess (Mrs.) Bassey Obong Edet age 71 yrs shall be interred the same day and obsequies to be hosted by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Sabongari Area, Calabar Field in Cross River Territory. May their gentle souls rest in perfect peace in the bosom of Abraham.
