Truck loading of refined products commences as Port Harcourt refinery begins production
The first trucks of petroleum products will be lifted from the rehabilitated Port Harcourt Refinery on Tuesday following the final coming back on stream of the facility on Monday night.
The disclosure was made on Tuesday by Olufemi Soneye, the spokesperson for the Port Harcourt Refinery who as well added that efforts are underway to bring the Warri Refinery on stream to producing again.
“Today marks a monumental achievement for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery officially commences crude oil processing. This groundbreaking milestone signifies a new era of energy independence and economic growth for our nation.
He added, “Hearty congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board and the exceptional leadership of GCEO Mele Kyari for their unwavering commitment to this transformation project. Together, we are reshaping Nigeria’s energy future.”
The State-Owned Port Harcourt Refinery will be producing at 60 percent capacity. This is after the refinery underwent renovation for four years with a 1.5 billion dollar contract to rehabilitate the facility.
About 200 trucks are expected to lift petroleum products from the refinery for distribution on a daily basis.
