Udom pledges to reconcile aggrieved PDP members who boycott exercise
Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has assured that he would reconcile aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom at the conclusion of the party’s primary elections this week.
He also said that the party remained united and strong despite grievances from some members adding that winning elections remained an act of God.
Emmanuel told correspondents at his country home in ONNA on Sunday that though delegates for the primaries were limited to recently elected Adhoc delegates, candidates chosen were capable of ensuring a clean sweep for the party in next year’s general elections.
The governor who commended the party for the smooth conduct of the primaries however expressed confidence that all challenges confronting the party would be addressed.
Meanwhile, aggrieved members opposed the outcome of April 30, 2022, Adhoc delegates’ election boycotted the primaries.
One of the aggrieved members of the party who is the Senatorial aspirant for Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District Mr. Ephraim inyang-eyen, explained that they boycotted the primaries because it was illegal to do so.
Inyang-eyen, the immediate past Chief of Staff to the Governor, said there is subsisting matter in court challenging the credibility of the Adhoc delegates’ election which would come up for hearing on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
