UNICAL Graduates 5955, Records 22 First Class Degrees.
The University of Calabar (UNICAL) will on Saturday this week graduate a total number of five thousand, nine hundred and fifty- five graduands in the 34th convocation ceremony.
UNICAL Vice- Chancellor Prof. Florence Obi who announced this today (yesterday) in a media briefing said that the twenty-two of the graduands will receive First Class honour degrees.
She explained that seven of the First-Class degrees were from affiliate institutions while fifteen were from the parent institution.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the breakdown as follows; First Class 15 (UNICAL), Affiliates 7, Second Class Upper (1,073), Second Class Lower (2,763). Third Class (5,047) and Pass grade (26).
According to Prof. Florence Obi, 154 will receive PGD degrees, 187 Masters, and 56 PhD.
She further said that two Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their field of endeavor will be awarded honorary degrees in Business Management.
They are Alhaji Kamaru Ibitoye Yusuf and Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma from Kwara State and Anambra State respectively.
Prof. Florence Obi explained that the two Nigerians have contributed to the growth of the country and also impacted on the society as well as rendering critical services to the society.
