UPDATED: Adamu to Stay in office for another 3 months as IGP
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, will continue his duty as the nation’s police chief despite completion of his tenure.
Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, announced this on Thursday while briefing reporters at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
He explained that the decision of FG to extend the tenure of the police chief was to give the Federal Government ample time to select appropriate successor for the office.

And while the minister announced the extended tenure of the IGP, the police chief elsewhere at the Force Headquarters in Abuja was decorating some newly-promoted officers.
The Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the IGP, Idowu Owohunwa, and the Force Education Officer, Rabi Umar, were decorated with the ranks of Commissioner of Police.
The activity also involved some lower cadres of officers in the force.
