Updates on 2022 APC Convention: Counting in progress

At about 8:15 am sorting of votes had commenced and the counting of votes is now ongoing.

2203 delegates were accredited and voting commenced in earnest after President Buhari and his wife left the convention ground.

Three State delegates kickstarted the voting process in turn but thereafter the exercise was bridged because of multiple abnormalities perceived as capable of compromising the sanctity of the exercise.

First, security broke down as persons that had no business being in the voting arena were seen perambulating freely. Vendors selling all kinds of foods and souvenirs were seen hugging their wares in the voting area.

Also, some aspirants cleared for the exercise like Cubuike Amechi were spotted in the voting arena. As against the approved two persons assigned for each aspirant as agents to supervise the voting process for their principals, mercenaries infiltrated the ranks wearing ‘fake’ verses.

Again, contrary to the initial instruction that delegates who may not be literate enough to write the name of their preferred candidate could seek assistance from persons in their cells, an official announced that one individual was writing for the entire delegates from the State. And as well even where delegates were assisted, complaints were said to have been made that what was written for them was different from their choices.
