US forces reinforce combat readiness after North Korea missile launches

US forces in the Indo-Pacific region say they have enhanced their missile defense readiness in response to the recent ballistic missile launches by North Korea.

North Korea has repeatedly carried out missile tests since the start of this year. The most recent launch was on March 5.

In a statement on Wednesday, the US Indo-Pacific Command said it had ordered intensified intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance collection activities in the Yellow Sea.

It said North Korea’s launches violate multiple UN Security Council resolutions and pose a threat to North Korea’s neighbors and the international community.

It also said, “Our commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan remains ironclad.”

The Biden administration has been trying to seek dialogue with North Korea on its nuclear and missile programs. But the North has yet to respond to the US calls for dialogue.
