US receives written response from Russia
The US State Department said on Monday that it had received a follow-up written response from Russia addressing the standoff with Ukraine.
The State Department spokesperson did not disclose details of Russia’s correspondence.
Moscow’s response comes before a scheduled phone call on Tuesday between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Last Wednesday, the US delivered a response in writing saying that it cannot accept Russia’s demand over NATO to guarantee, in a legal document, that the alliance will not expand and stop adding more members.
It conveyed at the same time that it is open to talks about military drills and other issues.
Lavrov earlier reacted to the written reply from the US saying there was no positive response to their main concerns.
