Uyo council chairman charges journalists on objective reportage, solicits support for Umo Eno’s ARISE agenda

Uyo Local Government Council chairman Dr. Uwemedimo Udo has charged media practitioners in the state to always uphold the principle of objectivity in their reportage.

Besides, he further called on journalists in the state to support the governor, Pastor Umo Eno at ensuring the ARISE agenda of the government success.

The Uyo council boss commended the governor for tackling headlong the ecological problem threatening the state capital.

Udo said there was a need for journalists to be fair, objective, and balanced in their reports in order to promote unity and peace in the society.

He gave the charge while playing host to members of the Akwa Ibom State Working Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in his office on Monday, September 4, 2023.

The Uyo Council boss highlighted the critical role that journalists play as watchdogs of society, and called on them to carry out their responsibilities judiciously, considering that the public relies heavily on the information they disseminate.

Dr. Udo extended his commendation to the leadership of Comrade Amos Etuk for their unwavering commitment to promoting professionalism within the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state, further elevating its reputation.

The Chairman also implored journalists in the state to support the present administration of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno in the actualisation of the ARISE AGENDA. He commended the Governor’s efforts in addressing ecological challenges facing Uyo, the state capital.

Earlier the NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk applauded the developmental strides of the Uyo Council Chairman particularly in the promotion of peace and unity within the political circle of Uyo Local Government.

Comrade Etuk said the union has carefully followed Dr Udo on his activities since he assumed office and can say without contradiction that he has performed creditably and encouraged other local council Chairmen to also be intentional in rende ringservice to their people.
