VGN commander broker synergy with NUJ to combat crime in Cross River State

The head of Cross River State Command of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Mr. Bassey Moses has reached out to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the State to partner the group as mouthpiece to decimate insecurity in the State.

Commander Moses made the appeal in his speech at the courtesy call to NUJ Press Centre, Calabar on Tuesday during the 64th independence Day Anniversary Celebration of Nigeria saying that he chose the parley to interact with members of the fourth estate of the realm to solicit their exposure of the paramilitary group to attract engagement with government on the provision of needed logistics to enhance their operations especially in the riverine areas of the State where criminal elements thoroughfare to perpetuate nefarious crimes in the creeks like the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) water ways.

In her response at the briefing attended by officers and men of the VGN Cross River State Command, the State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Archibong Bassey reiterated her resolve to partner with security organizations thereby exposing criminal hide-outs through media outlets to make arrest of criminal elements and their sponsors seamless. According to her, this will restore peace in Cross River State and its environs and promised to present their request for an office accommodation and operational vehicles/logistics to the State Governor Senator Bassey Otu who is passionate about his people first mantra philosophy.

Present at the event was the NUJ Cross River State chapter secretary comrade Mike Abang, with veterans, executives, correspondents and reporters from the print, electronic and online media in the state who pledged to resonate the national security slogan “if you see something-say something” in their reportage.
