WAEC says collapsed NIN registration centre will not affect ongoing registration of candidates
The West African Examination Council, WAEC says the confirmation by the National identity management Commission, NIMC, that its National Identity Number, NIN registration Centre is down following maintenance by one of its providers, will not affect ongoing registration of candidates for this year’s West African Senior Secondary school certificate Examination, WASSCE.
The Head of the WAEC National office, Patrick Areghan said that candidates yet to get their NIN to complete registration before the closing date of Friday February 11 will still be accommodated.
The examination body further added that Such candidates who could not provide their NIN due to the collapse of the NIN registration Centre at the moment will be able to sit for the Examination, but should make the NIN available anytime before result certificates are ready.
Areghan said WAEC would not want to deny any eligible candidate the opportunity of taking the examinations, following the introduction of NIN as a requirement.
WAEC said it has already made room to address impending challenges whenever there is one notwithstanding its maiden introduction of NIN as a registration requirement.
