Wike charges PDP members to protect votes during bye elections in Cross River
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Woke on Saturday charged members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River to protect their votes after voting in the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and Akpabuyo State constituency bye-election.
He gave the charge in Calabar at a mega rally to flag off the campaign for the party’s candidates in the election slated for February 26, 2022.
“I want you to stand firm. Don’t be intimidated. Protect your votes; follow them bumper to bumper. Do not give them any inch. Follow them wherever they go. We must win this election,” he said.
The governor commended the party faithful for turning out massively for the rally in spite of the alleged failed attempt by the opposition to stop it.
The governor pledged his support to the party in the state to ensure that it wins both elections.
Wike said the PDP was working hard to reclaim power in 2023 across the country, adding that the APC-led government has failed Nigerians.
Speaking, the state chairman of the party, Mr. Venatius Ikem said that the PDP was poised to reclaim its ruling status in the state beginning with the anticipated victory in February 26 election.
He expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of party supporters at the rally, adding that it was a sign of victory.
The former Acting Caretaker Chairman of the party, Mr. Effiok Cobham stressed the importance of party members and their supporters getting their registered voter cards ahead of the 2023 elections.
