Wike Outburst: “I have not seen anybody who has the guts to tell me, ‘Wike, you are not a member of the party’; I’ll lead PDP’s campaign in Rivers by 2027”

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has declared that nobody in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can question his membership or force him out of the party.

Wike while speaking during a media chat in Abuja Monday, described himself as one of the PDP’s most loyal members.

He also criticised a senior party member, Chief Bode George, over unpaid ground rent in Abuja.

“I am still in the PDP. I have not seen anyone brave enough to tell me, ‘You’re not a PDP member.’ Who can say that? What have they done for the party that is more than what I’ve done?” he asked.

The minister recently vacated about 5,000 land titles in Abuja for unpaid fees, which one of these plots belongs to Bode George.

“Bode George is number 3092 on the list. His land was listed for not paying fees for ten years. At his level? At his level?” he stressed.

Wike mocked George’s political achievements in Lagos, “Since 1999, PDP in Lagos has not won even one seat in the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, or Senate. And you say the party made you? No, you make the party strong by your work.”

Although still in PDP, Wike said his main focus is supporting President Bola Tinubu’s government, “The only person I answer to is Mr. President. I am working to support this government and make positive changes.”

Wike who repeated his famous tough stance, said, “I enjoy stepping on the toes of big men. When they say ‘nothing will happen,’ I say ‘something will happen.’ And it will happen.

“Just because we go to the same church or mosque, you think you can break the rules? No. That kind of thinking is ruining this country.”

Wike further said that no one can remove him from PDP, “I have worked hard for this party. Nobody, I mean nobody, can tell me I don’t belong here.”

Again, Wike, has vowed to lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in Rivers State for the 2027 general elections, reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the party despite serving in the APC-led federal government.

Wike during the media parley in Abuja addressed the rising criticisms from within the PDP questioning his allegiance, asserting that his contributions to the party are unmatched.

He continued, “No one will take me from the party. I’m a member. In fact, I’ll lead the PDP campaign in Rivers by 2027.”

Responding to accusations of betrayal from some party members, the former Rivers State governor insisted his loyalty remains firm and his influence within the party intact.

On his current role as FCT Minister, Wike expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating that he is proud to be challenging entrenched interests and disrupting the status quo in Abuja

“Look at what we are doing differently. People have said that FCT was not working (but) now it is working which means I’m doing things that they (past FCT ministers) refused to do.

“I found out that most of them didn’t have the courage to annoy people, to step on toes but I take joy when I step on the toes of big men; those who say nothing will happen but I say something will happen. It makes me happy.”

“All they want me to do is to make decisions against poor people saying nothing will happen to them but I say something will happen. That is why we are making results. If you don’t do the right thing, too bad. I don’t care.”
