Wike vows not to accept northern dominance; Donates 25 buses to Cross River PDP
Amid the crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has vowed never to accept northern dominance in the leadership of the party.
Recall Wike rejected the current composition of the party where the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu; Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar; and Director General of the Presidential Campaign, Aminu Tambuwal; are all from the northern part of the country.
The governor who stated this while hosting PDP candidates and local government party chairmen from Cross River State at his residence in Port Harcourt said that no one can convince him to drop his advocacy for internal democracy in the party.
Meanwhile, Wike used the forum Wednesday when he hosted PDP stakeholders who were on a thank-you visit to donate 25 buses to enhance the Peoples Democratic Party campaign for the 2023 general elections in Cross River State.
The delegation was led by Senator (Prof.) Sandy Onor the Cross River PDP governorship candidate used the occasion to appreciate Governor Wike for his financial and moral support to PDP in the state when Governor Ben Ayade decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a statement made available to LENS Reporter on Thursday, October 14th, 2023, the gesture is to enable state and national candidates to win the polls and described the donor as a trailblazer and fighter for justice, equity, and fair play who speaks truth to power in politics.
