“Women will not be intimidated by actions of National Assembly”_ Lawmaker

The lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North state constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawunmi Oladeji has expressed worry over the recent rejection of some amendment bills on matters concerning women by the National Assembly, saying the rejection was unacceptable.

Notwithstanding she stated that women will not be intimidated by the actions of the National Assembly.

Oladeji noted that Nigerian women will not rest on their oars in creating awareness on the setbacks confronting the women folks and will continue to interface with stakeholders at championing the cause of women in Nigeria.

The lawmaker, who is the only female in the Oyo State ninth assembly, said considering the abysmal number of women in elective positions in both the National and State assemblies, it was expected that the legislative arm should not deny women 35% affirmative action in party administration and leadership or set aside specific seats for women.

Hon. Oladeji, while soliciting women’s support for any female gender that is aspiring to contest elective positions, challenged them to come out en masse to vie for political offices in the 2023 elections.
