World Humanitarian Day 2024: Cleric calls for safety of humanitarian workers
As attacks on humanitarian workers and humanitarian assets continue despite universally accepted international laws to regulate the conduct of armed conflict and limit its impact, violations of these laws continue unabated, while civilians, including aid workers, pay the ultimate price.
A cleric and lead pastor of Gospel House the Home of the Gospel Deliverance Ministry International, Pastor James John has called for protection of Humanitarian Workers globally even as the World Humanitarian Day was celebrated Monday 19th August 2024.
Pastor John made the plea in a chat with newsmen in Calabar on Monday while commemorating the day with #ActForHumanity saying it is time to recognize and compensate families of aid workers who have sacrificed their own lives to help people affected by global crisis.
2024 is projected to be worse than 2023 adjudged to be the deadliest year on record for humanitarian workers given extreme crisis like the ongoing Ukraine-Russian conflict, Hamas backed Palestinian and Israeli war, Myanmar war among pockets of other global conflicts have taken heavy tolls on humanitarian workers especially in conflict zones.
The Gospel House, Home of the Gospel Deliverance Ministry International is a faith based church located at plot 14, Ntufam Donatus Etim Street, off Parliamentary Extension, Ikot Ansa, Calabar, Cross River State.
