You’ve paid our school fees; given us shelter; empowered us; and we’ll reward you with our votes – Gov. Udom community tells Inyangeyen
The people of Awa, the home community of Governor Udom Emmanuel, have assured the senatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen, of their massive support for his senate ambition, stating that their consciences would be wounded if they pretend to have forgotten or taken for granted Inyangeyen’s personal benevolence and selfless commitment to the development of Awa community through the offices he has held.
They made the commitment Saturday, the 21st when AkwaubokAbasi Campaign Team, the campaign machinery of the governorship candidate of the YPP, Obong Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA) in the company of Inyangeyen were on a ward tour in Awa, Nnung Ndem, Oniong Clan and others all in ONNA local government area.
Describing Inyangeyen as tested, dependable, competent, dynamic, benevolent and an ONNA son they are proud of and can always count on to deliver, the people recalled how he has paid school fees for their children, built houses, empowered and impacted many in and outside ONNA local government area. Hence, according to them, he’s going to the Senate was a payback time and they cannot fail to support him 100 percent.
Speaking, Inyangeyen told the people that what he did as a commissioner was the tip of the iceberg since he was working under authority, but that his going to the Senate will afford him a bigger platform and leverage to do more for the people.
He said, “After I’ve carefully studied the continuous poor representation of Eket Senatorial district at the National Assembly, I am going to the Senate on my own to serve you in a bigger capacity and prove to all that we could have been better served. It is time we sent our very best to the centre than allow cabals to force and foist candidates on the people, candidates with no vision or political will”
To ONNA people in particular, the leading senate contender observed that only one section of the local government, Awa in particular, has benefitted from the government of the day, promising that he will do his best within available resources to ensure that growth and development reach other neglected parts. But these, according to him, will be possible if the people refuse to sell their consciences and future to moneybags who are feasting on the Commonwealth of the State and were ready to do anything possible to get their way.
Speaking further, Inyangeyen maintained that his work and plans for the people will be made easier with OBA as governor of the State, thus soliciting as well for the support of the community for the YPP governorship candidate to change the story of Akwa Ibom State for good.
