YPP candidate for Calabar municipality chair front runner in Cross River LG polls
A scenario reminiscence of the National Assembly elections in the 2023 Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency polls in Cross River State is imminent as Mr. Emmanuel Ekanem aka Engr. Bobby, the YPP candidate in the November 2nd Calabar Municipality Local Government Area election may emerge winner at the poll.
Recall in the 2023 National Assembly elections, Rt. Hon. Bassey Akaba, LP candidate defeated incumbent Member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Etta Mbora, PDP and Hon. Ntufam Edim Inok APC candidates.
The permutation is hinged on the overwhelming support he is getting from residents of the metropolis who come out in their numbers in solidarity with his campaign train where ever he goes to canvass votes that would enable him access the Mayoral office of Calabar municipality after the November 2 election conducted by Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC).
Fielding questions Thursday, October 31 from newsmen at Rabana junction roundabout Calabar, the campaign venue, Mr. Ekanem said he is out to change the narrative in grass roots development by restoring basic amenities like pipe-borne water which have ceased runing for sometimes now. Others according to him if elected as the Mayor are restoration of street lights, empowerment programmes and addressing out -of–school street children now prevalent in Calabar metropolis and its environs. He said ecological challenges would be on the front burner of his administration in line with the people first mantra of Governor Bassey Otu.
The CRUTECH electrical engineering graduate and native of Etta Agbor, Akim Qua Clan, Calabar municipality is a successful businessman with interest in real estate and owner of TIPSY Mistress sit-out and Affordable interiors furniture company Ltd.
Major contenders in the November 2nd LG election for the Calabar municipality mayoral seat are Apostle (Hon.) James Anam of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Okon Bassey Mbora of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Mr. Papa Ikpeme of Labour Party (LP) among other candidates vying for the coveted office in Calabar municipal council in Cross River State.
