2023 Cross River Guber Election: APC Chieftain describes choice of Odey as deputy to Otu magic wand to clinching ticket
The Director General of a campaign organization for the actualization of Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu in the 2023 governorship elections in Cross River State has said that the choice of Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, majority leader in Cross River State House of Assembly as deputy governorship candidate is the magic wand that will make the All Progressive Congress (APC) win the governorship slot in the state in 2023.
Prince Charles Ushie, of SURE PRINCE CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION, gave the hint while fielding a question from a LENS Reporter in Calabar on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
He said that since His Excellency, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade has kept to his promise to honour the Back-To-South arrangement in the rotation agenda of the state by ensuring that Prince Otu emerged candidate of the party against all odds, the choice of a running mate to the candidate to bolster votes from the northern senatorial district had to shift to Mbube nation in Ogoja Local Government Area which has never held any prominent political office in Cross River State politics in order to appease the people to vote en-mass for APC in 2023 general elections.
And commenting on the recent road-show organised by members of the opposition party to re-claim the state on major streets in Calabar, he said they would have rather sought to reclaim the lost oil wells and ceding of Bakassi to Akwa Ibom and Cameroon which could have increased the revenue accruing to the state rather than dissipate energy on a fruitless venture.
Prince Ushie said though the APC will win in the Southern and Northern Senatorial districts in the elections, the Central zone will be the battleground between APC and the main opposition party being the domain of its flagbearer, Senator (Prof.) Sandy Onor.
Reminiscing the governorship race in the state, aside from the PDP, the Labour Party Candidate Chief Ernest Obasse and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) Pastor Usani Uguru Usani are both from the Central Senatorial District of the state.
