2023 general elections: Akpabio emerges Akwa Ibom North East senatorial candidate of YPP

A former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr. Usenobong Akpabio has emerged as the senator to represent the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial district in the 2023 general elections, on the platform of the Young Progressive Party, (YPP).

Akpabio’s emergence was through a consensus in the YPP primary election conducted at the party secretariat in Uyo on Sunday.

Addressing newsmen shortly after he was declared the candidate of the party for Akwa Ibom North-East by the returning officer, Mr Idorenyin Jacot, Akpabio said as a former lawmaker, he would give effective representation if elected.

He expressed appreciation to the Young Progressives Party for giving him the opportunity to serve his senatorial district, adding that, with the resilience of young men and women in YPP, he was certain that a change has come in Akwa Ibom and YPP will take over the state come 2023.

Mr Mfon Essien also emerged as the candidate to represent Uyo federal constituency in the forthcoming general elections.

In his remarks, the YPP state chairman, Mr Nyeneime Andy, commended delegates for their peaceful conduct during the primary, adding that, the quality of candidates emerging for the YPP in the primary, there is an indication that YPP will win all seats in Akwa Ibom in the forthcoming general elections.

The the primary was witnessed by members of the National Working Committee of YPP led by the National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olawale Martins, and officials from INEC were on ground to observe the exercise.
