2023: Obi gave real reason for not telling Atiku before dumping PDP, says he’s hoping for another miracle

Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has given the reason he did not tell the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, before he dumped the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Obi who confirmed Atiku’s statement of not being aware of his decision to dump the party until three days after said that the reason he did not inform him was that, he didn’t want people to talk him out of it.

He also said that Atiku remains his respected elder brother, but that he would rather do the right thing and fail than do the wrong thing and succeed.

And reacting to Atiku’s dismissive comment about his presidential ambition in a recent interview he had with ARISE News Obi said that his political journey has been a series of miracles that allowed him to overcome many obstacles.

The PDP presidential flagbearer also said that Obi and the Labor Party only have support on social media and lack the necessary structure at the base to win the next election.

“The miracle is the root of our faith,” was Mr. Obi’s response when asked to react to Atiku’s comments.

He said that since he began his political journey, he has found nothing short of “miraculous achievements.”

He recalled how he ran for governor of Anambra state under a party that was less than a year old. He also recalled how he went to court and won and how he is the “only governor to come back from impeachment.”

“…So, I look forward to the next miracle,” he said.

Atiku, a former vice president, ran for the presidency in 2019, with Mr. Obi, the former governor of Anambra state, as his running mate.

Obi defected from the PDP to pick the Labor Party presidential ticket earlier this year, a move Atiku said he had no prior knowledge of.

Former political allies will face each other and other leading candidates, including the ruler’s presidential candidate. Congress of all progressives (APC), Tinubu Ball.

Obi is currently and possibly the most preferred presidential candidate on social media right now.
