Airforce destroys camps of bandit kingpin Dan Karami in Zamfara;Many Bandits will Surrender soon _ Repentant bandit leader

Troops of the Nigeria Air force have again destroyed another bandit camp belonging to a Notorious bandits’ leader Dan-karami near Rugudawa village in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state

Sources say the camp was bombed during an airstrike on Thursday evening and many bandits were said to have died in the operation.

An indigene of Zurmi local government, Musa Shehu says they heard sounds of bombs being dropped by the Air force fighter jet around Dan karami’s camp

It is not clear if the bandit Kingpin Dan Karami was among those killed or only sustain an injury

Dan-karami is a Notorious bandits’ leader terrorising Communities in Zamfara and katsina states as well as the neighboring Niger republic.

There was no official statement from the Nigerian airforce with regards to the operation as at the time of filing in this report

This Successes by the Nigerian Troops in keeping peace in the North West region and part of North Central is coming less than a week after some bandit camps belonging to Bello Turji operating in Shinkafi Local government area of Zamfara state were destroyed

It is also coming less than twenty-four hours after a Repentant Bandit told a gathering in Gusau that in the coming weeks some notorious bandit will lay down their arms and Toe the path of peace.

Meanwhile, a repentant bandit while speaking at a function aimed at fostering peace organized by the Zamfara State Command of the NSCDC said most Bandits terrorising communities are already fed up with banditry, kidnapping, and living in the bush.

He says in the next few weeks a good number of bandits will lay down their arms and truly repent because they want to return to the Society.

The de-radicalised bandit known as Dan Dukununu says banditry is flourishing because people in the city are supporting bandits with information and logistics

This will be good news for Zamfara state which has been battling security challenges ranging from banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and cattle rustling among other crimes since 2011.

With several communities sacked, thousands killed and abducted while others have fled their ancestral homes

The state government as part of its quest for lasting peace granted amnesty to bandits, but this was rebuffed leading to killings and Kidnappings continuing unabated.

This situation forced the state government to call off the amnesty programme and confront the bandits head-on.

This Repentant Bandit known as Dan-Dukununu was a gang member of the deceased notorious bandit kingpin Buharin Daji.

He later joined the gang of another Kingpin Dogo Gide before he Repented.

Representatives of the Zamfara Police command at the event say laying down arms alone is not enough but true repentance.
