Akwa Ibom North West PDP stakeholders urged to deliver bases

As the build-up to the 2023 general elections enters a significant phase, stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District have been charged to be committed to the delivery of their units for the party in the forthcoming
elections.

This charge was contained in a press statement signed by Mr Ekikere Umoh, the Chief Press Secretary to the Akwa Ibom state deputy governor, and made available to journalists in Uyo the state capital.

He noted that the senatorial district was a strong bastion of the party, explaining that the meeting was aimed at fostering interaction in preparation for the forthcoming elections, in 2023.

He further charged all the stakeholders to know that they have the responsibility of delivering all PDP candidates vying for State and National Assembly seats, Governorship, and Presidential positions, during the elections.

He described Akwa Ibom North Senatorial District as a major stakeholder and stabiliser of the party in the state, urging the party chieftains to continue to provide the desired support and direction to enable the party to record a resounding success in the elections in line with the succession plan of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The deputy governor said he was impressed that those who run the political affairs in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam, Ikono/Ini, Abak /Etim Ekpo/ Ika, and Ikot Ekpene/ Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituencies were intact in the meeting, adding that, such was a clear signal that the district was ready for the forthcoming elections.

He, therefore, commended the organizers for doing a thorough job in bringing all the relevant stakeholders together to reaffirm their decision to work for the party in the forth-coming general elections. He further charged them to recruit new members in the party while giving those who had left the ample opportunity to return to boost the strength of the People’s Democratic Party to enable them to capture all elective positions in next year’s elections.

The Deputy Governor further urged them to support the new state chairman of the party, Elder Aniekan Akpan who is a son of the area to succeed in steering the affairs of the party.

Earlier, the state chairman of the party, Elder Aniekan Akpan, said he was happy that Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District was the first to bring stakeholders together in a forum of that magnitude, and solicited continuous support from the stakeholders.

Elder Akpan also stressed the need for the district to come together for the purpose of ensuring that PDP sustains its leadership position in the state in 2023.

He said the umbrella of the party was large enough to accommodate the interest of all party members either in the present or later, and therefore appealed to those who could not be accommodated in elective positions to remain calm and sustain their support for the Udom Emmanuel-led administration and the party.

The meeting was attended by political stakeholders and supporters of the party from Ikot Ekpene, Abak, Ukanafun, Essien Udim, Obot Akara, Oruk Anam, Ika, Etim Ekpo, Ikono and Ini Local Government areas.
