APC youths wants Eric Anderson to contest chairmanship of Calabar Municipal Council

A group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Calabar Municipal Council Area have called on the former state commissioner for Tourism, Culture and Information Mr. Eric Anderson to contest the position of Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council in Cross River State,

The youths under the aegis “TEAM ERIC ANDERSON” (TEA) spoke through Mr. Etete Effiom in Calabar in an exclusive chat with LENS Reporter on Saturday October 14th 2023.

He reasoned that since other political zones have produced past Local Government Chairmen and Commissioners in the current state Executive Council as well as a member representing Calabar Municipal State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, it is proper for ward 5 in the political bloc to produce the next mayor of Calabar in the spirit of equity and fair-play.

This proposition is not unconnected with the seeming momentum gearing towards the local government election in the state following the dissolution of the cabinets of the immediate past chairmen and councilors in 2023.

Recall the Cross River Inter-party Advisory Council had given Governor Otu an ultimatum to instruct the state Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) to announce time-table for the conduct of the next local councils election in Cross River owing to the uneasiness currently brewing notwithstanding the leadership by HOLGA appointed by the government.

Mr. Eric Anderson is the former Commissioner for Tourism and Culture and later Commissioner for Information in the immediate past administration of Governor Ben Ayade. He is a scion of late Bishop Anderson family of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church in Calabar as well as a stakeholder in the production of the epic Efik film “MUTANDA OYOM NAMONDO.”
