Cleric felicitates journalists on World Press Freedom Day
The lead Pastor of Gospel House, The Home of the Gospel Deliverance Ministry International; Pastor James John has lauded Journalists across the world on World Press Freedom day.
Pastor John in a statement said marking the day is crucial especially in propagating the gospel of salvation to the world through the print and electronic media to free mankind from the bondage of the devil.
He said press freedom is essential in the smooth functioning of any democratic society to facilitate the free flow of information, exchange of ideas and the ability of citizens to hold their leaders accountable by reporting the truth, investigating wrongs as well as shining light on compelling issues that are important to the people.
Pastor James John while chatting with LENS Reporter on Wednesday May 3rd, thanked the management and staff of the LENS Newspapers, the authoritative and reliable online tabloid for the South-South geo-region for their incisive reportage of different worlds, serving the global audience with breaking news and cutting edge news delivery there-by impacting journalism online by projecting people centered issues and resonating views of the people according to the mantra of the publication.
Referencing Psalm 68:11 “The Lord gave the word; great was the company of those that published it,” praised the media for their support in spreading the good news through their platforms.
The World Press Freedom Day is set aside by the United Nations and is celebrated on every 3rd of May globally with the theme of 2023 “Shaping a future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a Driver to All other Human Rights.”
