Court fines Multichoice N150m, orders one-month free DStv, Gotv subscription to customers

A competition and consumer protection tribunal (CCPT) has fined Multichoice Nigeria N150 million for challenging the court’s jurisdiction after it had recently barred the company from increasing the prices of its subscription packages.

In the rulings delivered on Friday, 7th June, by a three-man panel led by Justice Thomas Okosu, the Pay TV operator Multichoice Nigeria was also mandated to provide subscribers on its DStv and GOtv platforms with one month of free subscription.
