CROSS RIVER 2023: PDP guber candidate knocks CRISSAA AND APCON for unprofessional conduct
The Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Chief Joe Bisong has petitioned the DG of the Cross River State Signage and Advertisement Agency (CRISSAA) as well as the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) for unprofessional conducts in the discharge of their duties of facilitating the business of outdoor advertisements in the state.
Chief Bisong in a letter he wrote to the Governor, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade on behalf of his principal Senator (Prof.) Sandy Onor accused CRISSAA and APCON of repeatedly denying them access to display their ad materials on billboards and pulling down existing boards notwithstanding its approval and payment of designated fees.
He said that they are conscious of the deliberate attempt by CRISSAA and APCON to over-heat the polity in their conducts of selective justice and high hardness at this crucial point being the election period and urged the Governor to call them to order as this untoward behaviour is capable of snowballing into a break-down of law and order or needless litigations.
A political watcher in the state said there is possible collusion to undermine the exposure of advertisements from the opposition parties since the ruling APC would ordinarily shield its governorship candidate, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu as evidenced in the barrage of his campaign materials on billboards planted across the state.
Efforts to speak to Mr. Effiom Effiwat, CRISSAA DG by LENS Reporter on the development proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
