Cross River youth proffer solution to FG, ASUU face off
As the nation grapples with the ongoing stalemate in the tertiary education level over the refusal of the Academic Staff Union of Universities to go back to classes despite efforts by the Federal Government to resolve the deadlock, youths in Cross River State who are members of the National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has proposed a solution to the lingering crisis which is capable of truncating the progress of education in Nigeria.
The debonair indigene of Cross River State who spoke on condition of anonymity reasoned that if the Federal Government could use the Abacha loot and all recovered stolen funds by the EFCC and ICPC to pay the seven months arrears of salary owed ASUU as well as backtrack from the “NO-WORK-NO-PAY” stand, the situation would recede.
He said in a chat with LENS Reporter in Calabar on Wednesday that if care is not taken, the incidence that may happen if the president refuses to apply the carrot and stick approach in resolving the impasse outcome may be worse than the #ENDSARS protest, as they will be ready tools in the hands of desperate politicians as idle minds which is the devils’ workshop.
He appealed to fathers and eminent persons in the country to advice President Muhammadu Buhari to do the needful before it is too late to rescue Nigeria from another youth unrest that could impact the 2023 general elections.
Reminiscing on the event, students in public universities in Nigeria have been at home exceeding seven months now while their counterparts in the private universities are progressing and graduating in record time.
