Governor Otu promises to partner state chapter NUJ to rebrand Cross River
Senator Bassey Otu, the Cross River State governor on Tuesday promised to work with the State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists to rebrand the Peoples Paradise at a media executives dinner in the new year tagged “Rebuilding Public Trust,” held at Jorany Hotel in Calabar.
The Governor who was represented by his chief of staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar commended the State NUJ for the cordial relationship that has existed since his assumption of office as the Chief Executive Officer of the State.
In his welcome address, the Cross River State NUJ Chairman, Mr. Nsa Gills assured the governor of their support to project and protect the image of the State with a view to restoring her pride of place in the country as seen in the excellent reportage of the 2023 Carnival Calabar festival and appealed for his support to relocate the NUJ secretariat to its permanent site.
Among those who delivered speeches were the General Managers of NTA, Calabar, CRBC and Acting Manager/Editor-In-Chief of Cross River State Newspaper Corporation, Florence Oluahu. They commended Otu for his people first mantra that has transformed into season of sweetness for the people of the State.
Dignitaries at the occasion include former State NUJ Chairman and Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service, Mr. Emmanuel Ekpala, SA to Governor on General Duties Barrister Ekpeyong Akiba and Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Mr. Edem Darlington who stood-in for the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche, and some members of the State Executive Council amongst others.
