Scores of unknown gunmen stormed Abakaliki, the capital city of Ebonyi State early Monday.

Sources say the assailants entered the city and shot sporadically into the air to scare residents.

It was gathered that they stayed for a few minutes on Abakaliki-Enugu road as residents ran helter-skelter for their lives.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen raided the popular market at Kpirikpri and carted away valuables and money.
