Ibiono Ibom lawmaker gift N100m empowerment largesse to constituents

The member representing Ibiono Ibom State constituency, Mr. Moses Essien has promised to partner with his colleague in the assembly to correct some abnormalities done to the people of Ibiono Ibom since the creation of Akwa Ibom State especially in the area of creation and recognition of clans, omitted villages and in the provision of infrastructure like health facilities and good roads.

‎He made this remark during a breakfast meeting with journalist from Ibiono Ibom in his residence in Uyo.

‎Essien who chairs the House Committee on Health, Nutrition and Food Security, emphasized his commitment to uniting the people of Ibiono Ibom and working for their progress, instead of using his office to fight them.

‎According to him the ₦100 million empowerment which is meant for those who have undergone skill acquisition training, will feature the distribution of various items including ₦15 million in cash, cars, sewing machines, generators, refrigerators, freezers, hair dryers, motorcycles, welding machines, pumping machines as well as distribution of free exercise books to all primary schools in Ibiono Ibom.

‎The lawmaker highlighted some of his notable achievements in the Assembly, including motions to complete key infrastructure projects, implementation of the Insurance Law Agency and construction of some deplorable roads in Ibiono Ibom.

‎He commended Governor Umo Eno for bringing the Grace Estate project to Ibiono Ibom, adding that his empowerment gesture is geared towards complementing the governor’s efforts in the area of human development.

‎Essien further explained that his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) is to better serve the people of Ibiono Ibom.

‎He disclosed as well that the football match sponsored by him, tagged “Hon. Moses Essien Unity Football Competition”, aims at uniting the youth in the locality.

‎The empowerment programme is billed to hold at Ikpa Pavilion in Ibiono Ibom On Friday 12th December,2025.

‎Speaking at the end of the meeting  a veteran journalist, Mr Idoreyin Akwaisua described the gesture as portraying him as a “caring representative with a strong bond of connectivity and unity with his roots”.

‎He called on others to emulate the gesture of Hon. Essien by engaging core professionals in their constituencies thereby fostering inclusivity.
