INEC, Police urge parties to join PVC advocacy drive

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Police have appealed to political parties to join the commission in advocating collection of permanent voter cards ahead of the general elections and also to shun violence.

This is just as the Commission and the State Police Command organized a stakeholder meeting with political parties to stem the tide of attacks witnessed in the State in the last few weeks.

Over 405,000 PVCs are still uncollected in Osun State.

The State resident Electoral Commissioner is making a lot of efforts to simplify the collection process.

Some political attacks including the destruction of billboards were recorded in the last few weeks in the State.

The Commission organized this stakeholders meeting in Osogbo where political parties are represented.

The State Police Commissioner vowed not to take it lightly with anyone caught disturbing public Peace.

Dr Mutiu Agboke was also at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi to seek his support.

The Commission promised not to jeopardize the confidence reposed in it.
