May and Frank Foundation to quarter street children in Calabar

As concerns continue to climb over the plight of street children in Calabar Metropolis, a child care foundation and NGO christened May and Frank Foundation was established to immortalize the parents of the Acting Director-General of Cross River State Electricity Agency (SEA) and Special Assistant to Governor Ben Ayade on Technical Matters, Architect Eric Akpo has concluded plans to open a home for the vulnerable kids in Calabar and environ and is billed to commence school enrollment in September 2022 to complement their rehabilitation.

The details were disclosed to LENS Reporter on Thursday, July 7th, 2022 by the coordinator of the project who is a London-trained Child Caregiver and Sociologist, Mr. George in their office along Atekong Drive, Calabar.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the progenitor of the scheme, Architect Eric Akpo hinted that though he is yet to receive any funding from the government, they have been able to take many children off the streets by sponsoring their education at State Housing Estate Primary School, Atekong Drive since inception in 2018 and many today have become useful and responsible citizens thus diminishing crimes associated with this demographic.

Speaking to LENS Reporter, a beneficiary of the scheme, 19-year-old Master Joseph Mkpandiok expressed thanks to God for using the foundation to better his life and that of other street children in the society.

Arc. Akpo as well said he is committed to providing electricity to urban and rural communities in the state who are yet to benefit from Governor Ben Ayade’s dream of providing electricity with transformers to boost economic activities and reduce arm robbery before leaving office in 2023.
