NDDC Rep appointment; release of kidnapped medical doctors thill Cross Riverians

There was jubilation in Cross River State on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, by residents over the safe and unconditional release of abducted medical doctors who were kidnapped along Okomita – Uyanga Road in Akamkpa Local Government Area by unknown gunmen last Friday prompting members of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Cross River State Chapter to embark on indefinite strike.

Chairman of NMA in the state Dr. Felix Archibong, confirmed this in a telephone interview with newsmen in Calabar saying his colleagues were rescued by security operatives in the early hours of Tuesday and expressed gratitude to Governor Ben Ayade for his pragmatic effort in ensuring the safe release of the abducted medical doctors. He as well appreciated members of the public for their support and prayers during the trying period.

Also, Cross Riverians have given kudos to President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointment of a former member of the Cross River State House of Assembly Hon. Orok Duke as representative of South-South in the newly constituted Niger Delta Development Commission Board.

Mr. Etukay while fielding questions from a LENS Reporter on Wednesday at an event in Calabar said by the noble gesture President Buhari has compensated the State for Governor Ayade’s decampment from PDP to APC.
