Nigeria 62nd Anniversary: Cleric explains significance of tenth month

The Senior Pastor of Assemblies of God Church, Diamond Hill, Calabar in Cross River State, Rev. Festus Afabe has described Nigeria’s Independence on 1st October 1960 as a milestone in Biblical history as it signifies the unfolding of God’s glory on the nation after decades of colonial rule.

Afabe who is also the District Secretary of Assemblies of God, Calabar District gave the admonition in a sermon he preached during the annual Independence day service in the church auditorium referencing Genesis 8:5 “And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month, on the first day of the month were the tops of the mountain.”

He stressed that God’s glory was revealed in the first month of October 1960 when Nigeria gained her political independence from Britain and used the occasion to prophesy that the 2022 Independence Anniversary celebration is a stepping stone to the manifold blessings of God to be released after the 2023 general elections because God will choose a man after his own heart to emerge as president of the country. He urged the electorates to vote wisely.

The event featured inspiration, prayers for the 2023 General Elections, and the cutting of the 62nd Independence Anniversary cake.
