Nigeria’s D’Tigers rout defending champions Tunisia 87–66 in Group B Afrobasket 2025
Nigeria’s senior male team D’Tigers delivered a resounding victory over defending champions Tunisia, in their second Group B clash at the FIBA AfroBasket 2025.
The Nigerians dominated the match, winning 87-66 and maintaining their strong campaign in the tournament.
The game began with Nigeria taking an early lead, 29-16, in the first quarter. Despite Tunisia’s efforts to close the gap, the D’Tigers maintained control, leading 48-33 at halftime.
The Nigerians continued to assert their dominance in the third quarter, outscoring Tunisia 20-14 and extending their lead to 68-47.
Josh Okogie was the standout performer for Nigeria, scoring a game-high 33 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out two assists. Caleb Agada also made significant contributions, finishing with nine points.
Tunisia’s top scorers were Omar Abada with 15 points and Yacine Toumi with 13 points.
The win sets the stage for Nigeria’s crucial game against Cameroon on Sunday, which will determine the group’s winner and possibly secure a favorable quarterfinal opponent.
