Napoli rejects €60m Galatasaray offer for Osimhen as he agrees to stay with Galatasaray

Reports in Italy has confirmed that Napoli have turned down an improved bid from Turkish giants Galatasaray for striker Victor Osimhen, who spent the 2024-25 season on loan in Istanbul.

Napoli are expected to sell Osimhen this summer. The Nigeria international has been on the club’s books since the summer of 2020, but has been pushing for a move away from the Partenopei for the last year.

Osimhen saw a permanent move away from Napoli on deadline day of the summer transfer window in 2024, which led to his joining Galatasaray on loan for the 2024-25 season. There, he provided 37 goals and eight assists from 41 appearances across all competitions.

Now, with a €75m release clause in his contract, which is valid for teams outside of Italy, Osimhen looks set to move on in the near future.

According to reports earlier on Monday, Osimhen has an agreementin place with Galatasaray over a three-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months.

There still needs to be an agreement between Napoli and Galatasaray, however according to updates from Sky Sport Italia, Napoli have turned down Galatasaray’s opening bid of €60m in his contract.

Napoli are pushing for a higher fee, close to the €75m release clause in Osimhen’s contract. Sky Italy had earlier reported that Napoli have turned down Galatasaray’s £47.3 million bid for Osimhen, who scored 37 total goals for the Turkish club last season.

Recall a Nigerian journalist and Osimhen’s close friend, Buchi Laba had revealed that Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has agreed a permanent move to Galatasaray.

In a post on his X handle on Monday, Laba wrote: “Exclusive: Victor James Osimhen says YES to Galatasaray & wants to continue with the Turkish Team. Napoli for weeks have been pleading with Victor Osimhen to stay.

“Osimhen has made it very very clear that he wants to leave. Galatasaray and Napoli are currently in negotiations for the payment of his Release Clause. More information soon.”

While on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen helped the club to a Turkish Süper Lig crown. The Super Eagles striker led the charge with 25 league goals and 36 across all competitions, helping the club secure their 25th league title and a first domestic double since 2019.

His brace in the Turkish Cup final also broke Mario Jardel’s long-standing record, making him the highest-scoring foreign player in a single Turkish season.
