PDP Declines Zoning in 2023 Guber Elections in Cross River
The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State has kicked against zoning the governorship ticket to any Particular Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections.
PDP State Chairman Mr. Venatius Ikem, Esq in a Press Release yesterday noted that the party under his watch will not tow the part of governor Ayade who said he will hand over power a southerner.
Ikem who said the decision was based on wisdom from experience, however, emphasized that PDP will give all aspirants a level playing ground to contest and use the opportunity to advise the leader of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in the State and his sponsors, Mr. Daniel Obo to stop threatening the party by planning to shut the PDP Secretariat for not zoning the governorship position to the South in 2023 general elections.
In a similar development, APC State Chairman, Barrister Alphonsus Eva has said that Governor Ayade, not ‘Port Harcourt neighborhood rascals’ will determine his successor in 2023.
Mr. Eva stated this on Wednesday in Ijibor, Bekwarra while addressing supporters of two terms House of Representative Member Rt. Hon. Legor Idagbor from Obudu, Obanliku/Bekwarra Federal Constituency who gathered people for an empowerment program and used the occasion to say that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State cannot impose any candidate from the Central Senatorial District in Cross River State in 2023 against Governor Ben Ayade’s resolve to hand-over power to a Southerner according to the Calabar-Ogoja accord.
