PDP wins Akpabuyo State Constituency by-Election
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr. Ekeng Edet has won the by-election to represent Akpabuyo State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly.
In the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, February 26, Edet polled a total of 5,866 votes winning in 7 wards out of 10 to defeat his closest contender Hon. Bassey Ekpo of the All Peoples Congress had 5363 votes.
It could be recalled that the exercise for the Akpabuyo State Constituency was necessitated by the death of Hon. Elizabeth Ironbar opened up the office for a replacement.
