Senatorial aspirant makes case for YPP, urges A ‘Ibom people to take their destinies in their hands

The leading contender for the Senate in Eket Senatorial District in 2023 on the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen has stated that it was necessary for Akwa Ibom people to experience a breath of fresh air and total inclusion in governance after many years of segregationist leadership in the State.

The former Chief of Staff to Governor Udom Emmanuel made the call during his official declaration of his support for the governorship aspirant of YPP in 2023 and incumbent Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert Akpan.

The event which witnessed a mammoth crowd of party loyalists and supporters from the 31 local government areas of the State and those from other States in the country, was held at OBA’s Multipurpose Recreation Centre/Campaign ground, Ifa Ikot Okpon, Etoi, Uyo local government area.

According to Inyangeyen who until his resignation from the PDP was seen as one of the pillars of the party in the State said the coming of YPP is to give the people the best and freest opportunity to experience what people-oriented leadership is supposed to mean in a democracy, compared to the rueful past of constant complaints and agitation by the citizenry.

“Today is the beginning of a new Akwa Ibom State. The crowd you see is not a rented crowd but those who voluntarily have seen reason and accordingly have decided to join YPP as a movement and march to liberation”.

He called on all Akwa Ibom people not to delay but seize the moment and opportunity to use their PVCs and vote conscientiously for change in the forthcoming general elections.

Political observers in the state described Inyangeyen as a formidable force and game-changer in the political dynamics of the State and Eket Senatorial district.

“Akwa Ibom people have decided to take their destinies in their hands. And here they’ve come to celebrate the new beginning with Sen. OBA. I encourage every Akwa Ibomite to take full advantage of this season and be part of the great history. I request you to join the team. Let’s make Akwa Ibom what it should be. This is the time to do the needful”.

The event saw massive defection by prominent state and national lawmakers from the PDP to the YPP. There were jointly received by the State and national chairmen of the party.

Respondents who spoke to our reporter on the sidelines said YPP offers fresh ideas and hope. Vincent Nwogu from Eastern Obolo said, “We are tired of the PDP, the hunger and unemployment in the land, and this tradition of forcing candidates upon us. In 2023 we will use our PVCs”.

It is observed that YPP, founded approximately five years ago on June 7, 2017, as a vehicle for the social democratic movement to bring fresh perspectives to Nigeria’s contemporary leadership, has as its motto – “Service to the people”; with yellow, red and green as its colours.

The national chairman of the party is Bishop Amakiri, while Pastor Nyeneime Andy, who had stepped down for OBA, serves as Akwa Ibom State chapter chairman. The party has chapters across all the states of the federation.
