Senatorial candidate berates persons discrediting YPP in Akwa Ibom
The Young Progressive Party [YPP] senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom South [Eket Senatorial district], Akparawa, Ephrain Akparawa Inyang-eyen, has described the insinuations making the rounds that his party is made of violent people an inferior attempt to discredit the party.
He made this clarification during a radio progremme on Inspiration FM in Uyo Thursday, saying that YPP has come to bless and rescue Akwa Ibom people.
“I am a-born again Christian, let anyone contradict me. Which party has more cultists and occult than my former party, PDP?. It is wrong to accuse people when you are not standing right as a child of God, I want anybody to come forward and tell me where I belong to, except Christ.
“If your hands are not clean, why do you accuse others, if there are cultists in YPP, I may not know, because I am not one but God. If heaven were to open about Akwa Ibom many of our people would be embarrassed because sometimes we worship God in the day and worship satan at night.
“The insinuation that YPP is full of violent people is nothing but an inferior attempt at discrediting a party that has come to bless and rescue Akwa Ibom state, whosoever is saying that the YPP is made of cultists and occults are saying that from the background of insufficient knowledge. But God will forgive them.
“My decision to represent my people is to change the narrative and introduce quality representation. I intend to bridge the gap between my people and the government. My intention is to change the narrative and introduce quality representation”.
According to the former Commissioner for works and Chief of Staff to the governor, the acceptance of YPP in the state has been a surprise to many in the state, noting that the party has just been in the state in the past four months.
On Massive crowd usually seen at their events, he further dismissed the insinuations from some quarters that those persons are usually hired to deceive Akwa Ibomites that YPP was accepted by the people.
“I heard people say that the crowd at Eket was hired. We are not in government, so we don’t have money. Those people you saw in Eket are people from across the state who voluntarily turn out to show solidarity to YPP. When we commissioned our office at Ndon Eyo, I decided to see whether our people were with us, we didn’t hire any bus, I just asked them that anyone who is interested should trek to the place. That crowd you saw at Ndon Eyo were people who volunteered to be there. No vehicle was hired, they all trekked to the commissioning place. What you saw at the flag-off of the National Assembly campaign in Eket were people that freely identified with YPP.
“The acceptance of YPP in the state is taking many by surprise, hence the insinuations making the rounds that the crowd seen at our functions are hired. Only four months in Akwa Ibom, only the blind will refuse to agree that the party is widely accepted in the state.
“Any project that God is at the center of, will succeed. I can conveniently tell you that this state is being taken over by YPP and PDP my former party will be history very soon. We are not going to wait for them to die, between November and December what will be left of the PDP will be carcass”.
